Mellieha Bay / Beach Five - Tourney Date/Time = July 13.2002 / 8.00 (8am)
Both Rods same Setup :
8" Stiffer Boat Rod
Shimano Tdl30 II Boat Fishing Reel with 20
lb Monofilament Mainline
16er Barbed Hook with 15 lb Monofilament
Hookline
Digitherm close to Hook
Weight = Arlesey 1 oz
Detector = Polaris Ledger Float
Rig selection = Fixed ledger
Bait = Scallops (3/5 size - piece 1)
Worms
( JK Special Sea worm, Harbour Ragworm, Ragworm, Black Lug, Blow Lug, Musselworm
and
Yellowtail
Lugworm) work either - but not so well as Scallops - same with Prawn and Sandeel.
Search for a Watertemp between 15 - 16 Degree (at this Date and with this settings was the best Temp 15.37) - I found this Temp between 117 - 122 Feet at the outer Boder of the dark blue Spot (light left and light right Side) - if you didn´t get a Bite between 5 - 10 Seconds use 1 Scallops for Loosefeed.

found was :
Cat
Bites (Meat) / (size 2 - piece 1)
Marzipan
(size 2 - piece 1)
Meat
Paste (size 2 - piece 1)
Banana
Tutti Pop-Up (with FS Shot BB ˝? above Hook) / (size 2 - piece 1)
Stilton
Cheese (size 3 - piece 1)
Tangerine
Boilie (size 1 - piece 1)
Right Rod :
Same Setup like Left Rod
Baits = same like Left Rod ( but Banana
Tutti Pop-Up with FS Shot AAA - and the Tangerine Boilie - size 1 or 2 -
piece
1)
and
Koi pellet (size 2 - piece 1)
Cast Right Rod between 34-42 Feet close to the darker green Grass of the small Island on the Right Side (or sometimes in this Grass around 58 Feet) and wait for bite. With the Left Rod select the lake on different Spots (good is straight ahead between 30-40 Feet) - if Fish don´t bite after 20-30 seconds recast to another Spot (close to Shoreline is ever a good Choise).

Bait = JPP Roach (Full Size - 1 Piece)
Much
Baits work well here (Deadbaits - but also Insects, Cheese and Boilies) but only
with the JPP Roach
you
will get Fishes above 40 lb on any bite.
I know the Hook looks a little small - but on a Hair Rig (it´s Standard for JPP Roach) it make no Difference on any Sizechange what Hook you use - but for me work the small Hook better as a bigger (I got bigger Fishes on a 16er as on a 12er or 10er) - but watch out for Slackline - with this small Hook you will loose the Fish faster as on a bigger Hook - now cast a little right between 38.4 - 41.10 Feet (look for 18.74 Watertemp) - use 1 JPP Roach for Loosefeed any 5 minutes or when you cast new - with the left Rod I scanned the Lake - cast (Watertemp should be under 20) - wait 10 - 15 seconds and cast new.
